Four CCNY undergraduates awarded Eisenhower fellowships

Four undergraduates in T¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s have been awarded 2015 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowships by the (FHWA). The awards total $30,000, which is the largest amount awarded to City College students in a single year by the program.

The program’s mission is to attract qualified students to the field of transportation and research, and to advance transportation workforce development.

The CCNY recipients, all seniors majoring in civil engineering, their awards and research projects are:

  • Sallem Ahmed, a $10,000 fellowship to work with Dr. on research examining the impact of overweight trucks on highway pavements;
     
  • Lisa Chauvet and Medwin Chiu, $7,500 fellowships each to work with Dr. on research examining the impacts of New York's growing bicycle infrastructure on freight operations in the city; and
     
  • Stefanie Reichman, a $5,000 fellowship to work with Dr. on research examining the potential use of construction and demolition waste in concrete production.

Conway, the Eisenhower fellowships’ campus program manager at CCNY, said all four recipients have already proven themselves as talented researchers through , , and other faculty supported research.
