Celebrating Women鈥檚 History Month at City College

Female empowerment, networking and book discussions highlight T九色视频鈥檚 2016 Women鈥檚 History Month observance.

The schedule of events is as follows:  

Tuesday, March 1, Women鈥檚 History Month Kickoff. Guest speakers, networking and a free WHM appreciation lunch. 12 鈥 2 p.m., North Academic Center (NAC) ballroom.

 Thursday, March 3, 鈥淐ontemporary Narratives: Gender and Resistance.鈥 A discussion with  Nimmi Gowrinathan, Visiting Professor, Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership; , poet, author, activist; and Rafia Zakaria, attorney, political philosopher and author. 12 - 2 p.m., 

Shepard Hall 250.

Tuesday, March 8, the Colin Powell School鈥檚 鈥淐onversations with City Breakfast Series鈥 celebrates International Women鈥檚 Day. Featuring Dulcie Leimbach, Fellow, Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, Graduate Center of CUNY; and Ambassador Mar铆a Emma Mej铆a, Colombia. Vince Boudreau, dean, the Colin Powell School will moderate. 8:45-10 a.m. at (dress code applies).

Tuesday, March 8, WHM Diversity Talks. A discussion of topics relating to Women鈥檚 History Month. 12 鈥 2 p.m., NAC Ballroom.

Wednesday, March 9, WHM 鈥淲ednesday Night Live.鈥 Female empowerment themed singing, dancing and poetry. 7:30-9:30 p.m., NAC Ballroom.

Friday, March 11, fourth annual Women鈥檚 Leadership Summit. 鈥淟imitless: Creating Your Own Power.鈥 Open to all CUNY students that register by March 8.

Wednesday, March 16, 鈥Women writing the Caribbean.鈥 A panel discussion by Caribbean authors Ifeona Fulani, Tiphanie Yanique, Dahlma Llanos Figueroa, Nicole Dennis 鈥揃enn and moderator Simone A. James Alexander.  6 - 8:30 p.m., Shepard Hall 250.

Monday, March 21, Talk by writer Maja Horn, author of "Masculinity after Trujillo: The Politics of Gender in Dominican Literature." 7 鈥 8:30 p.m., CCNY Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Center for Worker Education, 7th floor Auditorium, 25 Broadway, Manhattan.

Thursday, March 24, 鈥淧residential Conversations: Activism, Scholarship, and Engagement.鈥 Beth Wittig, associate professor, civil engineering, discusses 鈥淧ublic Engagement through Engineers without Borders: Rewards and Challenges.鈥 4 - 5:30 p.m., Sciame Auditorium, Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture.

Tuesday, March 29, WHM Closing. Mark the end of women鈥檚 history month by participating in speed networking with female employers and performing a community service by preparing packages for women in need. 12 鈥 2 p.m., NAC Ballroom.

Thursday, March 31, 鈥淧residential Conversations: Activism, Scholarship, and Engagement.鈥 Kathlene McDonald, interdisciplinary associate professor, presents 鈥淔rom Chaos to Advocacy: End-of-Life Care, Narrative and Social Change.鈥 4 - 5:30 p.m., Sciame Auditorium, Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture.
