Stephanie Petit-Homme, a senior in CCNY's Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, will spend the spring semester in France as a Gilman Scholar.
Stephanie Petit-Homme, a City College of New York senior with dreams of making a difference globally as a human rights lawyer, has been awarded a 2014 for study abroad. The political science and French double major will spend the spring semester at Universit茅 Paris VIII in France.
Gilman Scholars are selected by the International Institute of Education from a competitive process in the 50 states and Puerto Rico. The program鈥檚 mission is to prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world.
Ms. Petit-Homme, who is of first generation Haitian descent, said she would use the scholarship to study French culture and the language. Her career goal is to obtain a degree in international relations law and work in human rights.
The Jamaica, Queens, resident, interned last spring at the in Washington, DC. under City College鈥檚 Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership.
