Inventor, medical professor, Patricia Broderick receives lifetime achievement award

Patricia A. Broderick, the CUNY School of Medicine professor also renowned as an inventor and researcher, is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.  She will receive the Sapphire Diamond Crystal Tower at IAOTP鈥檚 annual gala at the end of the year.

The award recognizes what IAOTP terms 鈥渋ncredibly talented鈥 members for their professional and academic achievements, leadership abilities and contributions to their respective communities. Broderick has been honored for more than three decades of accomplishments as a professor, scientist, author, researcher, lecturer and inventor.

鈥淐hoosing Dr. Broderick for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make.  Unique, extraordinary, pure genius and out of the box are just some of the words that first come to mind when describing her,鈥 said Stephanie Cirami, vice president, IAOTP. 鈥淪he has been a true pioneer in the medical industry.鈥

One of Broderick鈥檚 foremost accomplishments has been the BRODERICK PROBE biosensors and related biotechnologies. The probe sends neurotransmitter images in real time from the brain and has become an essential tool in the study of treatment options for neurological degenerative diseases and drug addictions.

For the last 30 years, Broderick has served as Medical Professor in Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience at what is now the CUNY School of Medicine on City College鈥檚 Harlem campus.

She鈥檚 received numerous other honors including 鈥淭op Professor & Scientist of the Year鈥 from   IAOTP in 2016.
