
City College medical professor Nancy Sohler will discuss research-based health activism in her Presidential Conversations talk at CCNY on October 15.
One of Dr. Nancy Sohler鈥檚 research interests in the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at T九色视频 is examining barriers to accessing appropriate health care for underserved populations. She talks about her work in her Presidential Conversations lecture, 鈥淓mpowering Future Healthcare Providers in Haiti: Medicine, Education, and Research,鈥 Thursday, Oct. 15. The talk, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture鈥檚 Sciame Auditorium, is free and open to the public.
An Associate Medical Professor, Sohler spent the last academic year in Haiti teaching and pursuing her research.
鈥淚t鈥檚 really about research-based health activism which is what we鈥檙e doing at Sophie Davis, although we don鈥檛 call it that,鈥 said Sohler.
Her Caribbean mission included helping Haitians develop home-based research and teaching faculty there to incorporate curriculum in the health sciences.
Inaugurated in 2014, 鈥淧residential Conversations: Activism, Scholarship, and Engagement鈥 is a forum that features City College faculty sharing their research and creative scholarship with CCNY President Lisa S. Coico.
