Sophomore Emily Costa and freshman Jaclyn Williams, the latter from the Macaulay Honors College at T九色视频, are this year鈥檚 Jeannette K. Watson Fellows at CCNY. Created in 1999, the Watson Fellowship program provides summer internships, professional development opportunities and mentoring for outstanding undergraduate students from select New York City colleges and universities. It is supported by the Thomas J. Watson Foundation.
As Watson Fellows, Costa and Williams will each receive a $5,500 stipend for their first summer internships, $6,500 for the second summer and $7,000 for the third summer. Both are international studies majors.
Costa, who is minoring in studio art and women鈥檚 studies, is interested in interning for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, DonorsChoose.org, the Institute of International Education and Hunts Point Alliance for Children.
From upstate Schenectady, N.Y., Costa lives in Harlem.
Williams, a graduate of New Hyde Park Memorial High School on Long Island, is undecided on her internship options.
She is a Hertog Scholar through the Macaulay Honors College and a scholar-athlete on the CCNY women鈥檚 track and field team. Her specialties are the discus, shot put, javelin and hammer throw.
