The repeated pulling of the fire alarm on September 4 in the NAC building raised questions and concerns about safety and the current evacuation procedure for the college. COO Gurba gave a report on the status of the elevator and escalator maintenance in each building. The information dissemination in emergency situations will work as follows:
-
Director Morena will inform President Boudreau of any occurrences on campus
-
President Boudreau or his staff will share information on the Cabinet Slack channel, with specifications of whether or not information is to be disseminated through the departments.
-
As the situation develops, Cabinet members can follow up with respective members of Senior Staff.
Action Items:
-
There will be daily email updates from the Operations team on the status of each elevator and escalator in the respective buildings.
-
There will be a recommitment to identifying and training fire marshals
-

The Aladdin food services station had a soft launch in the first week of classes. The official launch will be in the first week of October. They are currently located in the NAC cafeteria, and will expand to the faculty/staff dining hall in the coming weeks. Feedback is key to building the food service station that students and staff are happy with. Any logistics in regard to catering services and space reservations should be directed to the Operations and Event Planning teams.
There was a demonstration at the Hillel welcome dinner for CUNY students which eventually required police presence. The situation was dissolved, and President Boudreau will be meeting with Hillel students later in the week. Cabinet members discussed the Title VI regulations, the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin. CDO Konigsberg asked that every Dean and Vice President send their plans for implementing these regulations in their departments and plans for training their faculty and/or staff in these regulations as well. There will be further discussion on a designee for Title VI regulation monitoring.
Action Item: Marie will distribute the CCNY Guidelines regarding Demonstrations.
Cabinet members also worked to establish a concrete communication protocol in case of events, emergency or otherwise. President Boudreau will relay information internally through one or all of these methods:
-
Email blast
-
Cabinet slack channel
-
Senior Staff information tree - Provost to Deans, COO to VPs, SVP to Communications staff SVP Mozeleski is responsible for sharing information externally through her communications team, social media or a press release.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:57am. The next meeting will be on September 23, 2024.
