Annual Summer Retreat

Were you interested in camping, hiking, kayaking, or simply gazing at the stars near a beautiful lake this summer?

The CCNY Outdoors Project hosted its Annual Outdoor Leadership and Team Building Retreat from August 5th鈥8th at the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Stephen & Betsy Corman Harriman Outdoor Center. This exclusive sleep-away experience was made possible with roundtrip transportation arranged through the Office of the President at CCNY.

As part of a continuing outdoors initiative, Dee Dee Mozeleski, Ashley Mastroddi, and Akasha Solis curated this summer retreat to build on what has become an 8-year tradition. Originally designed for Colin Powell Fellows and alumni, the program has since expanded to welcome students of all majors and class levels.

The retreat was guided by AMC outdoor professionals trained in Wilderness Medicine, outdoor skills, and natural history. Students had the opportunity to hike through the woods, participate in team-building activities, and learn foundational skills such as basic navigation and campfire building鈥攁ll in a supportive and inclusive environment.

With only 20 available spots, registration filled quickly. Participation was open to current CCNY students, with a non-refundable $25 fee required to confirm attendance.

We鈥檙e deeply grateful for the enthusiastic response and support we received.
