What is the cost to attend?
The event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis
How long does the ScareFest experience take?
Each group tour through the ScareFest tunnels will take approximately 15 minutes.
Can I bring my cell phone on the tour?
No. Cell phones are not allowed at all during the Scarefest tour — this includes using them for video, text, photos, or any other purpose. We ask all guests to put their phones away and enjoy the experience. If a phone is seen during the tour, public safety will escort you out promptly.
Can I take pictures outside?
Yes! You're welcome to take outdoor photos and videos of t¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ before or after the tour.
Is the event suitable for children?
Yes! ScareFest is family-friendly and welcomes guests of all ages. Tunnel lights will be ON for the first hour for families seeking a little less fright; tunnel lights will be OFF thereafter for the ultimate scare!
Can I bring costumes or props that look like weapons?
Costumes are allowed, but for everyone’s safety, no weapons or weapon look-alike props are permitted at ScareFest or on CCNY property.
Is there anything I should avoid bringing to ScareFest?
- Umbrellas
- Weapons of any type including firearms, knives, and pepper spray (prop or real/authentic)
- Animals
- Alcohol, illegal substances, tobacco products and e-cigarettes
- Large bags and backpacks, clear bags or small clutches are acceptable
- Noisemakers such as whistles, horns, or air horns
- Banners, flags, signs, beach balls, projectiles, and balloons
- Professional photography equipment including tripods and other professional camera equipment
- Hoverboards, skateboards, and rollerblades
- Drones
- Laser pointers, fireworks, and any item deemed to compromise public safety
- Personal folding chairs
Can I bring bags into the experience?
For the safety of others, we're asking that any bag be a clear bag or that you fully refrain from bringing bags into the experience.
Clear bags - 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller permitted. Non-clear purse or bag 5x7 or smaller permitted. Baby diaper bags are permitted.
Is there an ADA-accessible entrance?
Yes! The ADA entrance is at the North Academic Center (NAC) Building ground floor Plaza at 160 Convent Avenue (near 138th Street).
What should I do in case of an emergency at the event?
If there’s an emergency or you need assistance during ScareFest, please look for a CCNY Public Safety Officer. Uniformed Officers will be present throughout the event and are equipped to handle any situation. Your safety is our priority!
Are there restrooms and/or places to wait for others to go through the experience?
Yes! There are bathrooms inside the buildings that will be accessible to the public during the event/experience. Please see a Uniformed Officer and/or any employee of City College to ask for directions. Spaces to wait, outside of the building on Convent Ave-in front of the NAC building, will be available as well.
