Blood Drive and Marrow Registration Drive on April 6th

On Tuesday April 6th, the New York Blood Center and T¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ will hold a Blood Drive and Marrow Registration Drive for Emil Temple, a college student from the Bronx suffering from a rare but serious form of bone marrow failure.

Countless blood and platelet transfusions are giving Emil a fighting chance until he finds a match. Please join in the efforts to help save Emil!

About Emil: in September 2020 he was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a life-threatening condition where bone marrow stops producing enough new blood cells. He is in desperate need of a stem cell transplant to survive.

Being half Dominican and half Panamanian makes finding a donor challenging. Emil has no matched siblings, and his mom is only a half match. Patients are most likely to match someone who shares their ethnic background.

To donate blood you must bring photo ID, NYBC donor card or donor ID # if you have one.

Face covering is required before entering the building.

Eat well and drink plenty of fluids before donating. For eligibility information visit .

Do not donate if you have:

  • a fever or other symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing)
  • had close contact with someone diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • been diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19 until 14 days after your illness has resolved
  • NOTE: close contact is defined by CDC as being within 6 feet of an infected individual for a prolonged period of time

NY Blood Center does not test for COVID-19. Please contact your health care provider if you want to be tested.
