Our Undergraduate Affairs unit:
- coordinates with the CCNY Admissions Office in implementing The Grove School's decisions on admission policy and transfer credit;
- organizes advising for registration in collaboration with stakeholders for each major;
- with academic departments, controls enrollment levels in courses, and permission for non-majors to take Grove School of Engineering courses;
- with departments, approves to take courses outside of T¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ (more);
- maintains the official curriculum for each major, and the General Education liberal arts elective listing;
- sets policy and enforces standards for academic performance by students.
In partnership with Grove's academic departments and their respective chairs/program directors, our Undergraduate Affairs unit: - approves student requests and appeals;
- approves conditions of academic probation and re-entry;
- performs preliminary graduation checks (on behalf of the student) & final graduation checks for graduation certification (on behalf of the School/College).
Each major's general advisor who is affiliated with each academic department and who are part of the Undergraduate Affairs professional staff team:
- answers student questions about curriculum & procedures;
- coordinates student registration, advising & transfer credit;
- accepts students changing to that major from another Grove School major;
- accepts applications for readmission after an absence;
- accepts appeals including those related to probation for students who are not in good academic standing;
- handles violations of pre- and co-requisites;
- collects program data needed for accreditation.
The Office of Academic Affairs coordinates and/or serves as the Grove School's liaison for programming as related to academic services such as tutoring, select Grove-wide scholarships, mentoring, career and professional development, experiential learning, , co-curricular life/student activities {student organizations (clubs)}, common meeting and study space for students, and student-focused events planning within The Grove School.
