The Rangel Initiative's new Commercial Driver鈥檚 License (CDL) training program was developed in response to collaboration with NYC Human Resources Administration and the Pathways to Industrial and Construction Careers (PINCC) initiative鈥攑art of a shared commitment to preparing New Yorkers for high-demand, high-opportunity jobs.
Whether you're just getting started or ready to pivot into a stable, skilled profession, our CDL program is built to help you succeed.
What You鈥檒l Learn
Our training combines classroom instruction with cutting-edge driving simulation to build skills and confidence before participants ever step into a vehicle. The program includes:
- Commercial driving fundamentals
- Advanced simulator-based training
- Road safety and vehicle inspection protocols
- Job readiness and career planning
- Assistance with CDL permit preparation and road test scheduling
You鈥檒l also receive wraparound career support to set you up for long-term success.
Who The Program is For
We welcome motivated individuals who are ready to commit to a training schedule and pursue a new career. While you do not need previous experience, you must meet basic CDL eligibility requirements for New York State, including:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Possess a valid NYS Driver鈥檚 License
- Obtain a Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) before road training begins
- Meet medical and legal qualifications to operate a commercial vehicle
