The Alumni Association of T��ɫ��Ƶ’s annual dinner at the Hilton hotel is always a big night for both CCNY alumni and current students. In addition to Townsend Harris medals to select alumni for outstanding postgraduate achievement, the event celebrates academic excellence. This year, 60 students are recipients of Alumni Association scholarships for their academic achievements. When it comes to upward mobility and its drivers, Jennifer M. Morton, assistant professor of philosophy at T��ɫ��Ƶ, has a different take. Kevin R. Foster is the Interim Dean of the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. His appointment follows the naming of the School’s dean, Vincent Boudreau, as Interim President of T��ɫ��Ƶ. An Associate Professor, Foster has served as chair of the Colin Powell School’s department of Economics and Business, where he has taught since joining City College in 1998. He’s a graduate of Bard College (B.A. economics) and Yale University (M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.). In 2010, Foster was visiting faculty at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Iliana Ortega, an Ad/PR major at T��ɫ��Ƶ, is one of 50 undergraduate seniors nationwide in the American Advertising Federation's Most Promising Multicultural Students Class of 2017. The standout students were selected by top advertising executives representing Arc Worldwide, Bloomberg, Droga5, FCB, fluent360, mcgarrybowen, Momentum Worldwide and Omnicom Health Group. Antonio Tibaldi is one of several notable filmmakers in T��ɫ��Ƶ’s Department of Media and Communication Arts. His impressive body of work includes five feature films. In the documentary genre, his latest production, “ Thy Father’s Chair,” has critics raving. “A deeply human documentary,” lauds “The Los Angeles Times” while “The Hollywood Reporter” describes it as “a clear-eyed chronicle of domestic disrepair.” Now the film is one of the 18 in competition amongst 250 that will screen at DOC NYC, the country’s largest documentary film festival, Nov. 10 – 17, in Manhattan

Four City College of New York undergraduates have qualified as student leaders in a global program run by Stanford University to create new opportunities for their peers to engage with innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking and creativity. They are among 169 new University Innovation Fellows selected internationally by Stanford’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design. Vincent Boudreau is the Interim President of T��ɫ��Ƶ. His appointment, announced by CUNY Chancellor James B. Milliken, is effective immediately. Boudreau has served as dean of the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at City College since 2013. He was previously director of the Colin L. Powell Center for Leadership and Service from 2002 through 2013.
